If you live in Kitchener or anywhere near it the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium or "The Aud" is the best place to go on a Friday night in the winter. That's the night the Kitchener Rangers play their home games.
Sometime before 7:30; the opening faceoff you enter the arena with 6000+ fans waiting for the players to arrive. The tension is rising and everyone's excited. The music is blaring and the lights are out and when the players skate out the crowd cheers as they're introduced.
It's very exciting to see all the players warm up and get ready for the game; especially the first game of the season when you haven't seen them play for months!
Another fun part about going to The Aud on a Friday night is going to get snacks and looking in the team store "The Outpost" in the intermissions. They have lots of food for sale: pizza, slushies, beer nuts, popcorn or any other snack you would want to consume while watching the game. The team store has lots of souvenirs like jerseys, hockey cards, pucks and other Kitchener Rangers clothing. It makes the game even more enjoyable to eat some good snacks while watching the game and it's cool to get some souvenirs of your favourite players you see on the ice.
The best part of being at a Rangers game (or any hockey game for that matter) is when they score. You see the players trying as hard as they can to put the puck in the net and when they finally do the crowd roars and chants "Let's Go Rangers" as the goal horn sounds. It's awesome! It's like thunder rumbling when the fans suddenly stand up and cheer and it's fun to see what kind of goal celebrations the players do on the ice.
That's why I love going to Kitchener Rangers games so much. The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium is a great place to be on Friday nights if you want to watch some good hockey!
